With the Budgens fast track Retail Management Training (RMT) Programme you really have the chance to succeed and prove yourself. That’s why the Institute of Grocery and Distribution called it 'one of the best of its kind in the industry'.

Given responsibilities right from the word go, you’ll be sent on two 6 month store placements.

During your first 6 months, the emphasis will be on developing your practical skills. So, you’ll spend 4-6 weeks in each of the different store departments (Grocery, Produce, Dairy etc), learning how to order and control stock.

Your second 6 months will be spent in a different store, developing people management skills, and getting involved with store accounts and recruitment interviews.

Throughout this time you’ll need plenty of ‘get up and go’ as part of the Budgens store management team. (It can be hectic coping with a busy schedule, getting a store running to consistently good standards and dealing with customers and staff while responding to new situations.)

And you'll need your good education too. Either as a recent graduate (any discipline) with 2 A-Levels or equivalent, or an A-Level school leaver with at least 3 GCSE passes at C or above, including Maths and English.

We also give you the opportunity to study for the Institute of Grocery Distribution ‘Post Graduate Certificate in Management’, recognised by Manchester Metropolitan University. This is an excellent qualification, held in high regard throughout the industry. We additionally provide other external qualifications relevant to this role.

Then, there’s the excellent motivational-training ‘week away’ right in the middle of the course. At a secret location, for one week, you’ll be set challenges and missions that will teach you about people management and help you discover things about yourself that you may not even know yet.

A strong and friendly personality will help you to get on with the store team. And, as you might be asked to relocate, a clean driving licence is always useful as well. If you have all this and more, you could be part of the store management team, in just 365 days.
